Stack Testing & Analysis Services

Stack Testing Sampling & Analysis Services

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines a stack, performance, or source testing, as a process that "measures the amount of specific regulated pollutants or surrogates being emitted and demonstrates the capture efficiency of a capture system and determines the destruction and removal efficiency of a control device used to reduce emissions subjected to the requirements of the Clean Air Act (CAA)." Stack Testing or air emission testing is required when making process changes or expanding facilities. To make critical decisions, you need accurate and timely emissions data and engineering evaluation that determines and demonstrates compliance with the NSPS (40 CFR Part 60), NESHAP (40 CFR Part 61), and MACT (40 CFR Part 63) test methods.

Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS)

Increasingly, regulatory agencies rely on continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) to prove that compliance is within permitted emission limits. Federal and state regulatory agencies require annual audits to ensure that a facility obtains accurate data when demonstrating compliance. However, federal regulations require quarterly calibration of the CEMS using an EPA Protocol 1 calibration gas applied at various concentrations.

Air Permit Experts

PPS identifies and evaluates air emission sources, assessing air permits and regulatory applicability to individual emission units and facilities. The compliance team members are experts in air regulatory applicability evaluation, emission estimation, and permitting.

Combining CFD and Environmental Stack Emissions Testing

PPS combines air emission testing with our computational fluid dynamics (CFD) services when a source is located in an urban area or determines the dispersion of the exhausted gas flow. PPS combines air emission testing with our computational fluid dynamics (CFD) services. This combined service utilizes CFD techniques and traditional dispersion modeling to identify engineering solutions to reduce emissions.
