The Problem

Flow Built On Guesswork

PPS CFD consulting services show how air, water, gas, and heat really move through your design before you pay for equipment. Most systems are sized with averages and rules of thumb. Nobody had the time or the data to see the flow. Every oversized fan, pump, or chiller is paid for in energy, every year. Systems sized too small run hot, short-circuit, or fail inspection, and that bill is larger. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) answers the question in between: what does this system really need, under the conditions it sees in service?

The PPS Approach

Four Studies, One Process

Our computational fluid dynamics services cover four problems that drive cost in process plants, facilities, and equipment. Fluid flow simulation finds pressure drop, uneven flow, and poor mixing. Heat transfer engineering solutions find hot spots and size the cooling. CFD analysis for HVAC shows where the air goes in rooms, cleanrooms, and data halls. Environmental CFD maps dispersion and capture, so controls are sized to the real duty.

Fluid Flow · Pressure drop, mixing

Heat Transfer · Hot spots, cooling

HVAC CFD · Airflow, comfort

Environmental CFD · Dispersion, capture

Why use specialists instead of adding CFD to a designer's workload? Because the answer is only as good as the setup. Mesh, boundary conditions, turbulence models, and operating cases decide whether a result is real or just a colorful plot. Good CFD modeling takes more than flow simulation software. Our engineers check each model against hand calculations and any test or field data you have before you see it.

The goal is not a flow plot. It is the lowest total-cost design. That means the smallest equipment that meets the duty, laid out the way your installers already work, and ready for the tests your customers require. Our CFD consulting services team works beside our FEA and DFMA engineers. A structural load or a fabrication limit won't surprise the flow answer late in the program. You own the IP by default, set in your contract. CFD also feeds the work around it. When the goal is process optimization engineering, our DFMA services carry the flow results into the parts and the process. For CFD cost reduction analysis, our value engineering services weigh each change against unit cost. Either way, fluid flow process improvement starts with a model you can trust.

FAQ

CFD Consulting Services Questions Engineering Buyers Ask

Straight Answers On Computational Fluid Dynamics, IP, And Price

Which CFD consulting services does my project need?

Match The CFD Service To The Flow Problem You Need To Solve

CFD consulting services should be chosen by the problem you need to solve, not by the software name. Start with the symptom or the constraint. Our computational fluid dynamics consulting team sorts each request into four groups: flow, heat, airflow in rooms, and emissions. Each points to a different study. If pumps, fans, or ducts lose too much pressure, you need fluid flow simulation. If equipment runs hot, you need heat transfer solutions that model the solid and the coolant together. If a room, cleanroom, or data hall has drafts or hot spots, CFD analysis for HVAC shows where the air goes.

If stacks, hoods, or scrubbers must meet emission limits, our environmental CFD services map dispersion and capture near the source. EPA's SCRAM site covers the models used in regulation. Many systems face more than one of these at once, so our engineers work them in one model. Not sure where to start? Send the layout and its history. The free assessment tells you which study answers your question.

Can CFD replace physical testing?

CFD Targets The Tests You Run; It Does Not Replace Them All

CFD consulting services cut the number of physical tests and field trials your project needs. They do not remove required qualification, commissioning, or stack testing. CFD simulation finds weak designs early, when a change costs a CAD edit instead of new equipment. So the tests you do run confirm performance. Skipping simulation has a cost too. Without it, each install is a guess, and each failed test means new equipment and a slipped date. Tests cost real money, so each one should answer a real question. The ASME V&V 20 standard sets out how to judge CFD results against test data.

The tests that remain matter more. We pick the operating points and sensor spots that confirm the tightest results. A partner lab or your site team runs the test, and we correlate the model to the data. When they agree, your reviewers get evidence from two sources. When they don't, the gap points to the wrong assumption, and we fix it. Your customer or regulator still sets the required tests.

What do you need from us to start?

Send Your Data And Targets; Your Roadmap Starts From There

To start a project with our CFD consulting services, send what you have, in any format. That usually means CAD, native or STEP, or a layout, plus flows, temperatures, and operating conditions. Add fluid data, your targets for energy, temperature, or limits, and any field measurements or complaints. Missing data is the most common reason engineering projects stall. A model built on guessed inputs gives a guessed answer, and you pay for it later. Fluid properties are a common gap, and the NIST fluid property tables are a good first stop. That is why we don't start the work until every data set is in.

Once it is, the first step is a free assessment of your project scope and data. We confirm what the work can and can't answer, and tell you what is still missing. Then we send a roadmap proposal with scope, targets, and approval gates. Every project is scoped on its own, so the roadmap sets the schedule, not a stock promise. NDAs are available before you share any files.

Who owns the design and the models?

The Design, Drawings, And Models Belong To You At Delivery

You own the IP from your CFD consulting services project by default, set in your contract. That covers the design, the drawings, and the models. Some firms keep the models, or license them back to you, so every later change sends you back to them and their rates. That locks your equipment to one vendor for its whole life. It also makes design reviews harder, because your team can't open the evidence behind each decision. If your program falls under export rules, data handling matters too. The State Department's ITAR guidance sets the rules for defense data, and a loose process puts you at risk.

At delivery, you receive the native CAD, the drawings, the model files, and the documented results. Your engineers can check the work, rerun a case, or hand the package to a supplier or customer. We sign mutual NDAs before any data is shared. Your files stay in controlled project folders. Tell us your export or customer data rules at the start, and we set up handling to match.

What happens if the installed system doesn't perform as modeled?

If We Missed It In Our QC, We Fix It; Test Data Improves Design

If a system designed with our CFD consulting services doesn't perform as modeled, we find out why. Real operating conditions, fluids, and assembly effects never match a model perfectly. Because you approve the data at each gate, a test result is checked against predictions you have already seen. A failed test feels like a setback, but it is useful data. It shows which assumption was wrong: an operating case, a fluid property, or a boundary condition. Without a plan, that data gets argued over instead of used to fix the design. NASA's standard for models and simulations sets out how to judge a model's credibility.

When testing is in scope, we plan it with a partner lab to confirm the flows and temperatures that matter most to you. Then we correlate the model to the results. If the miss was ours, because something slipped through our QC review, we fix it. If the test finds a condition nobody knew about, we scope the change with you and update the roadmap together.

What does it cost to outsource CFD analysis?

Priced To The Value We Deliver, Never To The Hours We Log

We price CFD consulting services to the value they deliver, not the hours we log. Hourly billing rewards extra iterations. The cheapest quote often becomes the most expensive project once rework and field failures show up. Our incentive is to get the design right the first time. We engage by fit, not as a ladder, and you can move between them. Gold (from $35K): you have one project and need help with it. Platinum (from $15K/mo): you have recurring work at a steady rhythm. Diamond (from $800K/yr): you have a long development program, often multi-year. Federal buyers can also use the SBA's SDVOSB set-aside program.

Gold is never required, and some clients start at Platinum or Diamond. These are starting points, not quotes or bids. Your price comes from the free assessment, where we review your project scope, data, and goals and send a roadmap proposal with scope and cost. We price to the value we deliver, not the hours we log. If the value isn't there for you, we'll say so in the assessment.
